Again, this song reworks material from an earlier album (this time 'The Master and the Monkey') with the help of Beccie Watson!
The lyrics for this song come from a folk tale from the Scottish side of the Solway estuary. The legend goes that years ago a great Sea Worm swam into the estuary and started to graze in the sun on the sandbanks, stealing sheep from the fells for food.
Eventually, the dragon began feasting on children from the small fishing villages. Banding together, the local fisherman waited until low tide, when the tide was out, and filled the soft sand with thousands of sharpened, wooden stakes.
Thus the tide came in, bringing with it the dragon where he was speared and killed...
His death throe was heard for three days and three nights and seagulls feasted on his carcass...
